Why I Blog

So yeah, I blog. I like writing(although it's more like punching keys on the keyboard to me these days). I never thought in a million years I'd have a blog let alone be a serious blogger to that.

I started blogging through Multiply and my only experience in writing consist of essays I make in school(and even had great grades to match). I am too scared of looking at my old posts there now since the way I write before wasn't really the best(and my nene pics there horrify me) although the topics I wrote about were pretty great(like this one I wrote about my first experience doing Zipline)and even though I could've edited better then, the way I wrote about stuff made me quite....happy. Free, even. Parang like that chick in the Dulcolax commercials who spins around in her airy dress because she felt so much joy except for me, I felt joy for writing and and not like her who only felt joy because she was able too shit that day. Even if I felt truly happy doing it, I still wasn't into blogging.

Me starting a new blog here on Blogger was a decision made out of boredom. Truth be told, I don't remember the reason why I started a blog here. It was Jan 2010. I remember only writing one entry then. I didn't really like blogging so I left this blog dead for quite a long time. I would write occasionally, but never enough and often.

It was only this year I got into blogging. I realize it's one of my creative outlets.I sing but it annoys the hell out of my siblings if I sing in the room(I do think I sound better than the kawaii sounding anime songs they hear). I act but I haven't been on school plays for quite some time now(pero magcocomeback din ako very soon. Haha. Feeling Nora Aunor). I dance but I come out moving like Robosapien than Martha Graham(I bet she weeps in her grave when I make hataw). I draw but the only drawing I could ever make and win awards with is my stick man drawings(Proud ako, okay? Hihi). I paint but only my nails(and it isn't even expert application :|). Now, I write and I absolutely love it.

I like that I blog about lots of things: celebs, fashion, music, current events and sometimes even personal stuff about me. Most of the stuff I talk about here are stuff I don't typically discuss with my siblings. They get bored if I speak of Lagerfeld and roll their eyes when I tell them my opinion about this event. I blog about rants, too! hehe

I sometimes wonder why some people blog. It's because some people I know "blog" to gain followers and popularity. It annoys me. And I also wonder if I have real followers. I only have a few but then I still question some of them about their sincerity in following my blog. Did they follow me because of my blog or only because to ask me to follow them back? Because the one thing I hate is people who pull the "I-followed-you-so-follow-me-back" kind of trick. I have two blogs; this one here on Blogger and another one on Tumblr and people do that all the time to me. I wonder nga if they actually read my blog every time they ask me to follow them back.

I know it will make your blog a bit more popular and it is exciting to know you have a huge following but that shouldn't be the main reason you blog in the first place. You should blog to express yourself or what you think of the world and not because you want to be sikat. Di ganun yun, kapatid. I won't call you a true writer and bloggers should be writers. A true writer for me is someone who isn't fazed by the fact that he/she has fans but cares more about the articles he/she writes about. I could easily tell the difference between a writer who really likes to write and a writer who just writes for people's attention.

I have to admit, yes, like lots of bloggers I do wish to have more followers but I could honestly say that I don't think that it's really important. Don't get me wrong; I love my "real" followers but I write for myself and not really for anyone. What's the point in trying to make an audience happy if I am not happy with what I wrote? I am part of my audience and I am the person whose opinion matters the most. Second is my bestie's opinion(Did I mention that I appreciate her support? Sure beats having 50 "followers" any day). Yes, it does make me happy when I gain a follower and a true follower to that but I am perfectly content with having a fast net connection, a lust for writing and an account here on Blogger. :D

  3. I'm following and you don't need to follow back. Haha.

Anyway, just go write, na-entertain ako (lalo na sa bieber entries) at medyo napuyat sa pagbabasa. It might be slow now but if you just go do what you do, and write sincerely, it will pick up.

I believe that once you begin to write for popularity people will unfollow. :D
